Shopper’s Chagrin ~ An homage to those seeking to find the perfect purse… by Shannon Richardson

I’ve spent my life on a perpetual search, for the perfect handbag, satchel, or purse.

No such thing must exist I conclude; for the perfect purse has continued to elude.

Off in the distance of a department store rack, my eye is drawn to a handbag in black.

It’s shape is perfect, the handles just right, but when I look inside, no pockets in sight.

Once again my hopes have been dashed, I will continue my search with no place for my cash.

How can it be there is no such creature? They’re in every color, with every known feature!

As they draw you in with their promise of perfection, you’re hopes are high upon your inspection.

The color, the shape, the function, the size; why it’s perfect, do I dare believe my eyes!

I rush to the counter to purchase my treasure,  I’m giddy inside with childlike pleasure!

I’m on top of the world with my newfound delight, but as I carry it longer, I notice the blight.

The straps, those straps, they will not stay up! They fall off my shoulder no matter what!

Oh no, can it be, this is not the purse of perfection?! I have fallen victim to handbag deception!

As I package this purse for the local thrift store, I vow to be a handbag rube NO MORE!

I will inspect, I will test, and I will not be deceived!  I will press forward with vigor and valor until victory is achieved!

I will not be detoured; I will continue my search, For the perfect handbag, satchel, or purse!
